In 6 Nimmt!, each player, along with one virtual player, will be placing cards in one of four different rows, while avoiding ever playing the sixth card in a given row.

Each player starts the game with 66 points, which will slowly be lost during the game. When one player, including the virtual player, reaches 0 points, the match ends and the player with the highest score will win.

Each round, each player will be dealt ten cards. In the first round, four cards will be dealt face up to start the four rows. There are 104 cards in the deck, each corresponding with a number from 1 to 104. Each card is worth a certain number of points - the 55 is worth 7 points, and all other multiples of 11 are worth 5. All of the multiples of 10 are worth 3 points, and the other multiples of 5 are worth 2. Every other card is worth 1.
Each round is divided into ten turns. Each turn, each player will select one of their cards to be used. When all the players have selected, the cards are revealed, and resolved from smallest to largest. Resolving a card consists of adding it to a row. The way one determines this is by comparing the card to the rightmost cards of the four rows - the active card is added to the row that has its rightmost number be the closest to the active card without being higher than it.

In this situation, the 11 card is resolved first, as it is the lowest. It will be placed next to the 3, as the other three numbers are all greater than 11. Next, the 20 is placed next to the 19. The 20 is higher than the 19 and the 3, and as 19 is closer to 20, it is placed there. Third, the 60 will be placed next to the 50, and finally the 75 will be placed next to the 60.
There are two circumstances in which a player will be forced to take cards, and thus lose points. If a player’s card is the sixth card added to a row, the player will instead take the five cards already in the row. The point value of each of those five cards will be deducted from the player’s bank of points. The sixth card will instead become the first card of a new row. The second circumstance is if the active card is lower than all the rightmost cards. In this case, the active player will choose a row to take, and their card will start a new row.
How the virtual player is automated is that it will play its turns following a set of simple rules. The virtual player receives their cards face up at the start of every round, so the hand of the virtual player is always public knowledge. The virtual player will choose the card from their hand that is closest to one of the rightmost cards of a row, while still being higher. If there is a tie, or all of the virtual player’s cards are lower than the rightmost cards of all four rows, the virtual player will pick the lowest card that qualifies. In the latter situation, and if the virtual player is required to choose a row to collect, the virtual player will choose the row worth the least points to take.
The game continues in this fashion. When all ten cards are played in a round, if any player has run out of points, the match ends. Otherwise, all cards left of the rightmost card in the four rows are discarded, and each player is dealt a new hand of ten cards (the discard pile being shuffled if necessary). The virtual player will also receive their cards face up, as per usual.
When any player reaches 0 or fewer points, the player with the most points will win the match and enter the Final Match of The Genius III. The other two players will go to the Death Match to determine the eleventh player eliminated from the season.
