A method of choosing a starting tribe, or a way to form new tribes from existing ones
Appearance(s)
Survivor: Wales Survivor: Africa Survivor: Siem Reap Survivor: Visayas
A Schoolyard Pick is often used in Survivor for choosing New Tribes or teams for Reward Challenges. These new groups will work together for a pre-determined amount of time, potentially creating new alliances and rivalries.
About[]
When a Schoolyard Pick is presented to the castaways, the opportunity to forge a stronger (or weaker) team is made. There is no one-way to form new tribes and several methods have been used.
Appearances[]
In Survivor: Wales, the castaways were marooned as one large group to start the game on Day Zero. After a challenge, the highest scoring castaways (Jessie & Shannon) then divided the tribes.
In Survivor: Africa, after a double tribal, Sam & Kevin chose the new Toliara and Atsimo tribes in a schoolyard pick, therefore switching the teams up again for a second time.
In Survivor: Siem Reap, Alex & Hannah were chosen to be team captains, by random draw, in the beginning of Episode 5. In this episode, they chose the members for Pailin and Kandal 3.0 respectively.
In Survivor: Visayas, the oldest castaway of the season (Gaby) and the youngest castaway of the season (Gregory) would pick the original Cebu and Leyte, respectively.
